In recognition of the
importance of an educated population to the future well-being of rural
communities, Kneehill County is pleased to commit $3,000 per year for two
academic scholarship programs of $1,500 each, in support of rural students
attending an Alberta university, college or trade school.
To be eligible for
this competition, applicants must be a rural resident of Kneehill County and
must be enrolling in their first year of studies at a recognized Alberta post
secondary institution.The applicant
must qualify for an Alberta High School Diploma and have taken a minimum of 25
credits in his/her final school year (official transcripts required of high school
marks).
Applicants should
include a brief resume providing information on their
community/school/volunteer involvement.A letter from the applicant demonstrating that his/her course of studies
is related in some way to rural community interest and/or agriculture must also
be included along with one personal letter of reference (non-relative).
All applications will
be reviewed by Kneehill County Council and the successful candidate will be
selected based upon a combination of academic performance, citizenship,
community involvement, and the individual letter of application. The successful
candidates will be awarded a cheque in the amount of $1,500 upon receipt of
confirmation of registration at a recognized Alberta post-secondary
institution.
