Kneehill County Scholarship 2009

In recognition of the importance of an educated population to the future well-being of rural communities, Kneehill County is pleased to commit $3,000 per year for two academic scholarship programs of $1,500 each, in support of rural students attending an Alberta university, college or trade school.

To be eligible for this competition, applicants must be a rural resident of Kneehill County and must be enrolling in their first year of studies at a recognized Alberta post secondary institution.  The applicant must qualify for an Alberta High School Diploma and have taken a minimum of 25 credits in his/her final school year (official transcripts required of high school marks).

Applicants should include a brief resume providing information on their community/school/volunteer involvement.  A letter from the applicant demonstrating that his/her course of studies is related in some way to rural community interest and/or agriculture must also be included along with one personal letter of reference (non-relative).

All applications will be reviewed by Kneehill County Council and the successful candidate will be selected based upon a combination of academic performance, citizenship, community involvement, and the individual letter of application. The successful candidates will be awarded a cheque in the amount of $1,500 upon receipt of confirmation of registration at a recognized Alberta post-secondary institution.
